While it was nice to see the Twins win the series, I don't know if that means anything.  It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of days as far as trades go.  Too bad Garza didn't get the win because he pitched great.

Garza did pitch great. I actually fell asleep watching the game thinking to myself 'these weak ass fags are going to lose 1 to nothing'

then I woke up when Jew Ford got lucky and hit his homerun.

One thing I want to say is, why is Punto still playing?  Yea he has great defense, but he couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper sack, he SUCKS.  He looks totally clueless at the plate and can't even hit the ball on the ground to score Bartlett from third base with nobody out.  Effin weak as hell man.

I agree.  Punto really shouldn't be in the lineup except as a late inning defensive replacement.  Let Cirillo and Buscher split the AB's at 3rd.

Punto is lucky if he makes contact.... dude is NOT an MLB caliber ball player.  If he can make it, I'm gonna get back in the cage...

he can play defense, and that's it.  Last year when he hit .290, it was a total fluke.

Yeah, he looks terrible this year.  Striking out too much and hitting too many in the air.  Very weak.

here is my suggestion.  Punto only starts when Johan is pitching.  Johan hits, and Punto gets DH'd for.

Quote

The Twins traded second baseman Luis Castillo to the New York Mets on Monday for Class AA catcher Drew Butera, the son of former major league catcher Sal Butera, and Class A outfielder Dustin Martin.

The Twins announced the move at 5:45 p.m. Twins General Manager Terry Ryan was scheduled to meet with the media at 6 p.m.

Castillo, 31, is making $5.75 million this year and is eligible for free agency at season’s end. As the Twins leadoff hitter, he was batting .304 with a .356 on-base percentage.

sort of surprising, but not really considering Luis's legs can't handle the Metrodome turf for 2 more years, and he was due for free agency after this season.  They didn't really get much for him though, unless the minor league'ers pan out down the road some?  Maybe this will free up some money to sign Torii?

Baker threw a stout game today against Chief Wahoo and Slider.

Is there a better pitcher in the league than Johan Santana?  14K's through 7 innings today.  Mowing down the Rangers.  The Twins even gave him a run so he is pitching with the lead.  LOL

Might not be a better pitcher, though Brandon Webb is pretty good.  Too bad Santana i outta there because the Twins organization sucks dirty buttholes.

How long until they trade away Johan?  This sucks for the Twins.  I hope they can find a decent center fielder in FA because there isn't one ready in the organization.  If they trade Santana for Miguel Cabrera and then sign a real DH, they could probably then get away with Tyner in Center.

blah, as much as I love Torii, he really was full of shit in this contract stuff.  Yesterday he was quoted as saying that NOTHING was going to happen until next week because he didn't want any of this on his mind during Thanksgiving.  I'm sure he'll be a good player for the Angel's for a couple of years, then when he's 35 and hitting .260 with 15 HR's, we'll realize why the Twins were only offering him 3 years.  It's all about the money, isn't it Torii?

They definitely do need to get somebody to fill his spot though, but knowing them, they won't.

Gee, where would I want to play... in sunny California, where the organization actually SPENDS money to try to win.... or in shitty Minnesota with a tightass ballclub that won't pay me as much?  Sure is tough.  You can shout loyalty all you want, but Pete, if I offer you a 20% raise, are you going to come to my company, especially when the surroundings are better?  I bet you would.  I don't care that these guys are making millions, it's a busines and you want to be compensated for the player you are.  If you're looking around the majors and not making what your fellow peers are, well that's not fair.  Oh, and then you look out your window and it's cold as fock too!

Congrats Torii, and best of luck to you!  I don't think he's worth 18 million either, btw.  He had a great year, but this is not truly that good.  Andruw did the same thing... had a great year, but then reverted back... as I'm sure Torii will too.

Won't matter anyway, the Twins lack don't want to win, they want to be competitive enough to get some fans and still keep a low payroll and make money.  Division titles are just gravy.
