reading this thread and looking at the old pictures cracked me up a little bit.  Today I retired the old Onkyo SR-304 and slid an Onkyo RC270 into it's place.  It's ridiculous how much better this receiver sounds, and all the cool technology packed into it.  You can actually patch it into your home LAN, and it will hook up to a Windows Home Server/Media center to stream off of, or even stream audio directly from Sirius.com, Pandora, Rhapsody, Slacker Radio etc.  It even came with a microphone that you can plug into the front of it, and you tripod mount it at the various listening areas in your room and it sets the receiver up for optimal settings, reduces distortion etc.  It even has a USB port on the front of it for plugging your phone, mp3 player, or a USB stick into.  This thing is insane.

this receiver has dual zones, so I can power my weatherproof omni directional speakers out on my patio, and it also has outputs for high and low surround speakers in 7.2 (dual subwoofer outputs, heh!) at 100w
