Ive been thinking about getting netflix this winter and doing some borrowing akamaking myself a copy as well. A friend of mine has it and says its the $#it. Any complaints about the mail turn arround time or other complaints?

My wife just switched from Netflix to Blockbuster.  Seems like half the stuff she wanted was in a mile long waiting list.  I think she waited too long to try and get new stuff.  She likes to still be able to run down the street to the store too if its an impulse to just watch something.

Too bad that in order to have unlimited exchanges at the store, it now costs $25 a month.  And with their $17/18 plan or whatever, you can only have 3 a month.  How gay.

the problem i have is i never remember to return store movies ontime. I have "300" sitting at my crib right now thats 3 days late, so late fees are getting really gay, thats why im thinking of netflix or BB. I can watch a movie while buring the other, and the only reason i burn them is so i have something to watch while at work on slow nights!

Danny, Jason has netflix and I've watched a couple of the ones online. The quality isn't great but like you said- watch the ones where you're not worried about the quality. They have a lot of movies from all the different genres to choose from. It's pretty fun. Plus you can pause and replay and all the same good stuff that goes along with watching a dvd.

We have Blockbuster and I really like it. its only $20 a month and we get 3 movies at a time through the mail, when we are done with one or two we go exchange them at the store (which is a good excuse to get out of the house with the girls) and the next day they have already shipped out the next movie on our queue. it has been working out great. the only thing I'm bummed about is that we dont have a burner and some of the movies shayna really, really likes and doesn't want to get rid of. but I like it a lot

That's not a bad deal at all. If we had a blockbuster closer I'd talk to Jason about switching

Yeah, we have a hollywood video and a family video closest to us but there's no blockbusters that close by.

blockbuster can go get a spoon and eat my ass. F' them.  ive been fucked over by blockbuster too many times.  never again.  family video didnt buy them out so to speak.  blockbuster built that new building, and lost too many customers with the "no late fee" bullshit.  they went out, and family video bought/leased the building.  with that blockbuster gone, the other one couldnt support itself and went out as well.

on another note, i like family video.  ive never had a problem there.

This is a cool behind-the-scenes look at a netflix distribution warehouse.

http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2007/08/23/netflix/

Looks like an incredibly mundane job.  I couldn't imagine coming in everyday and seeing a stack of 5000 red envelopes to open and sort.

On a different note, they raised their blu-ray rates.  They upped it a $1 last October and for my 3-plan I have, they just raised it another $3.  I think its $20 or 21 a month now.  Still worth it when one new release costs more than that.
