ok, so ive decided i need to look for a new camera, as mine is from 1903, and they stopped making rebuild kits for it. hehe.  im not sure what to look for, i think i want to spend $150-250 on it.  im going to start looking around at some sites later on when im not on dial-up.  who has good prices, products, and such.  i dont know much about them, so i dont need anything high zoot.  just looking for something to take pics of parts i sell, my toys, maybe some tech write-ups, and what not.  some car-truck show pics as well, and some decent video capability would be cool as id like to video truck pulls, drag races, mud bogs, and rockcrawling events.

I don't really, do you want a big zoom lens or more pocket portable?  My current camera is a Kodak and I've been very happy with it.

Sams Club baby. I got my Olympus there with a great warranty, and prices better than most camera places. They have a good selection of cameras in all price ranges. I looked at ABC warehouse and had to leave because the salesman was so annoying i wanted his head to accidentally ram my fist!

the only thing ive noticed i dont like so far is that it doesnt have a viewfinder, you have to use the screen.  sometimes if its cold out it really eats up the battery using the screen, or if i break the screen, i cant have a physical backup

Ive never had a problem with my screen eating up the battery but it would be damn nice to have a viewfinder just in case your screen cracks, like mine. Im still waiting to get mine back from the Olympus techs. Hey olympus techs->

I'd say "no" on both of those.  The camera is ok at best.  Main problem I have with it is the battery.  Its much better to find a camera that runs on AA.  NiMH AA is the way to go.  Twice the shots and can be purchased anywhere.  Can be fast recharged as well.

anything over 20 bucks for a 2gig SD flash card is overpriced.

for the money you are gonna spend, Check these 2 camera's out.

for the money, My choice is this one.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120194

The Panasonic Lumix series are nice because they typically have 6 to 8X optical zoom.

i hate AA's i am always buying them, they get lost, and im too cheap to buy  rechargeable set.  i loose the rechargeable ones just as fast or faster than the regular ones.  i will be picking up an inverter for my truck to run my laptop off of, so i can keep a camera charger plugged in as well.

i do like that one cameras 6x optical though.

i guess i should also note that my hobbies include...

summer:
jet skiing
boating
tubing
wakeboarding
mudbogging
wheeling (jeeps)
quadriding
swimming/beach
fishing

winter:
snowmobiling
wheeling (jeeps)
fishing

i know i will be abusing it, and it will end up getting wet/sandy/muddy.  i was kinda liking the waterproof part of the optio w30

where is the cheapest place to get a 2gb sd card?  i guess even a 1gb would be ok, but i like the 2gb better.  that was the cheapest one i found in a 133x  which ive been told is really nice, and i should get.
