5 of us went to "clean" leaves from the compound where we stay........BUT Gary and I snuck OFF to visit the dunes.......  FINISH hill is STEEP!

Coming down Mt. baldy hill(?) was easier than going UP!

must have rained recently huh?  Bet that climb would have sucked even more with dry sand

must have rained recently huh?  Bet that climb would have sucked even more with dry sand 
  NO...dry sand would have been WARM!..(climbing a sand dune at 40 degrees).......   no vehicles going OVER and strong winds for 2 weeks......it was STEEP....  and yes it rained for about 3 hours on friday when we got there... these pics are from Saturday........

was it a total ghost town up there? does that Open Hearth close in the off season? What about the Sands?

was it a total ghost town up there? does that Open Hearth close in the off season? What about the Sands?
   Appletree and the quad shop across the street were the ONLY thing there that was open AND only a few hours on Sat morning.........NOTHING as far as the Sands, or either of the gas stations/grocery stores etc were open.......  CLOSED for the winter.......The bagle shop, and the places out by rt 31 were open.
