They signed Craig Monroe to a 1 year deal. If last year was just a fluke and he gets back to his old self he will be a great player for the twins.

God, I hope not. If he is that bad, they better only have him next year. Right now, I wonder how many at bats he is going to get with the addition of Delmon Young. They will have Cuddyer getting most if not all of the at bats in right, whoever in Center, and Young getting most if not all of the at bats in left. Kubel should get most if not all of the at bats at DH. I am sure they will plug Monroe in at both corner outfield spots here and there and also give him DH at bats against lefties as of right now. It will be interesting to see where they end up after the off-season.

they signed Adam Everett and Mike Lamb as well. Gotta be an upgrade to Punto? Just about anything would be...

They're desperate to show Johan they can/will compete and redeem themselves for their overall boneheadedness the past bunch of years. We'll see if it pays off. Go Delmon! Later Torii...

Torii...can't wait to boo him. You can hardly blame the guy. more money, better city/area. Twins weren't showing they were going to compete, or even make the moves to compete when he made his move. Shoot, all indications were, and probably still are that Santana is gone.

Santana is still a Twin though? I don't think he's worth 7 years and 140 million anyways. Who the hell is? Not someone who plays a game for a living.

it's a game to you but playing with computers is a game to many. i dislike that attitude. they provide a service and we pay for it. entertainment is as important if not MORE important than any other job in society. fans have shown time and time again that they players ARE worth it by watching sports and buying merchandise and funding these athletes. santana is the best pitcher in baseball and he deserves a top notch contract to work and provide his service. too bad the twins won't pay it because they don't think he's worth it. in the end, they'll find out just how worth it 20 guaranteed wins, and probably 5-10 more very winable games are when they're looking at 70 wins because they lost him. of course, maybe liriano will be a stud again. sometimes guys with his injuries come back even better!

I beg to differ Clint. They offered him 20 a year for the next 4 years. How is that not paying? 7 years is a long time to commit to anyone. Why not accept the contract for 20 mill a year and see where things go? Like that isn't enough fucking money. They are willing to pay him, they just can't afford to mortgage their future on one player. That was the problem with Torii. The length of the contract. They offered him 15 a year for 3 years and he balked so they let him go. The Twins are the Yankees or Red Sox, but don't say they weren't willing to pay. It sounds like they were, they just couldn't match the long term contract.

it's not paying if another team is offering him 7 years. maybe minnesota sports learned their lesson with KG. the problem is, i think santana sees where things are going. only a blind man couldn't. the twins aren't bringing in the players to compete with the rest of the division so he's going to be stuck again and it's clear he doesn't want to do it. i'm not sure if it's about money for him at this point.
also, 20 million for a pitcher of santana's stature might be a bargain in 4 years too. his contract could be a bargain for 7 years/20 mil per.

and by the way, the twins made the right move with torii. you can say all you want, but his defense aint worth that much. he blew his load this year with the bat that's that. he's a decent 6 hitter.......
for normal torii hunter years, you can find plenty of young guys that are going to do nearly what he did for a few million a year. i salute the twins in that decision not to bring a fan favorite back just because he's liked.... the braves did the same thing and even though i wanted to see Andruw a brave, he wasn't worth a huge contract. they both have to prove things this year. torii has to prove last year wasn't a fluke and andruw has to prove last year WAS.

Yea, I'm sure that's totally in line with the history of baseball. It's a fucking joke and a disgrace what these guys are making.

Im sure tiger ticket prices will go up this year but in years past you could get 12 dollar seats and you still had a damn good view. That dome sucks.
