I received an end of quarter promo from Dell today.

1500va ABC brand UPS, $290   normal price is $549.99. These are great for desk PC's or single servers and network racks.  I have 2 of them at home, 1 on my network equipment and server, and one on my main pc.

What is the trick to get the price and is it still available?  I could use two or three...

I'll have to check if they're still available on Monday.  Usually when those things come out, they're gone pretty quickly.  I'll get back to you on Monday.

Usually a Dell deal that good will not last more than a day, but it's worth a try...  I ordered a XPS1330 for my wife on the 9th for just under a grand and the same machine now is $1700+, it's all in the timing with Dell.

Expected delivery date is Monday, I will let you know what I think of it.  (already has one strike against it being Vista only...)

Please post on here what you think of the 1330!! I'm looking at ordering one for my boss at work

The 1330 is an excellent little machine...  At least from the short amount of time my wife let me touch it...

Good design from packaging to the little remote, everything has a purpose and is well built.  The performance was impressive even with Vista. Keyboard and touch pad have a good feel. Aluminum palm-rest. Very comfortable to use.

Major complaint is waisted space around the monitor, I think they could have put a 14" screen or a smaller case.  I was expecting a noticeably smaller case than my Latitude D610 and its not really much smaller...    My wife did not like the lack of a latch for the lid.

BOTTOM LINE,  EXCELLENT MACHINE.  Vista sucks...

The specs and price, remember this is for my wife, she did not need anything great... Trying to keep it under a grand.

I called and got the LoJack crap removed for another $50 off (and they sent it anyways)..

For prospective on my review, I direct a network of about 1200 PC (200+/- are laptops) and another 150 MAC's.  Around 100 servers of shapes and sizes all but a few are Dell (those few are on the way out). I spend way too much time in front of computers and not usually impressed by much anymore.

Vista sucks...

I read somewhere that 60% of the machines Dell sells with Vista Business or Ultimate get downgraded to XP.  How sad is that?  I've been forcing myself to use Vista for about 2 months now, and I agree, it sucks.  It brings nothing productive to the table that helps people work better.  It's slower, is compatible with way less hardware, and costs more too.
