My 450 wouldn't even be coming out of the trailer.   On the other hand, back in the day I think Ben would have been all over that!

I DNF'd on Sunday with a mechanical of some sorts...I really really hope its just a sopping wet air filter and not something deeper...I will find out this afternoon what's up...It was the wierdest race Ive ever done- it was like racing in soft-serve ice cream...I was leading my class and came flying down the backside of a table because it was actually OK on that section of the track- to a 18" deep puddle, splashed my way through that and the bike was still running...went another 100 yds or so and it just died...I tried to refire it and it cranked and sputtered died and then cranked and fired again- at this point everyone had passed me- so I just rode off the side of the track.  I got towed back to my pit, but didnt look too deep at it as I had to haul ass to the gat Phoenix airport...Hopefully this afternoon, I'll pull the air filter off and find a nice clean intake track and she will fire right up.

The new 470 is a great motor- easy to do and really made a nice difference in power spread.  Really tractors out of corners now and man it seems to pull forever also...Only made 52 on the dyno but feels like a lot more on the track!!!

you did an ESR 470? did you put a sealing ring or anything on the cylinder?

i wouldnt worry about your motor. Sounds like it drowned. Growing up that happened to our bikes at least once a ride and they usually always came out OK. Just need to flush everything out.

You running a foam or KN filter?

I did a Patriot 470 LOL

97mm bore on a bored and replated stock cylinder.  Used a Cometic 97-98mm bore head gasket.  I surface ground the cylinder and head to make sure they were perfectly flat.  So farry so goody...

Piston and crank(rod) so far...Muck in the intake boot...pulled the carb and there was water there...looked in the intake port and muck there...popped the head off and muck there...pulled the piston and the pin was pitted/galled which took the rod out...cylinder bore looks OK, but I need to mike it to be certain...Valves look like they will survive with a decent lap job...
