Across the Universe

just watched Across the Universe last night and I though it was really good. Its kind of a typical love story but the visuals a really cool and it also deals a lot with the political issues going on in the 1960s such as the Vietnam war and how the youth reacted, which I found really interesting. on rotten tomatoes it gave it a 53% but I thought it was more like a 80% especially if you like the beatles b/c the movie features their music I would recommend giving it a watch

If this film gets an award, it just shows how screwed up the film industry really is...

I love the Beatles but I seriously thought this movie was garbage...the plot was all over the place and it really focuses way too heavily on the Beatles...I mean comon, the 2 leading characters names are freakin Jude (hey Jude) and Lucy (Lucy in the sky with diamonds)

Exactly.  Cathy rented it and I began throwing up 5min in.  Just lots of vivid colors, hippies and singing.

Janis Joplin was featured in it too-- the singer they shack up with was supposed to be her. I have mixed reviews about it. Jason and I saw it awhile ago.
