a step = putting 1 foot in front of another, not jumping up in the air with both legs and landing in an obvious travel.
You get 2 steps, it is the 3rd that is a travel so if you pick up your dribble, are in the air and then come down in a jump stop (both feet), it is perfectly legal.  There is definitely a leanency with this rule in the NBA, though.  When it is bad, they usually call it.  My biggest problem with the NBA game is that most teams don't really run any offense at all.  They just come down, run a pick and roll or whatever.  The Lakers actually have an offense except for when they all stand around and watch Kobe.  I do think that since the Lakers came away with the # 1 seed that Kobe is very deserving of the award.  CP3 would have been 2nd on my list and then probably KG and then LeBron.  The Cavs just didn't do good enough to warrant LBJ getting the award.  Now, if we go by overall value to his team, LBJ gets it hands down.  That team probably wouldn't have won a game this year if it wasn't for him.  LOL

The cavs in the east without lebron would have won far more games then the hornets in the west without paul.  Paul had the hornets a top the West for a couple weeks.

Did anyone expect the hornets to even make the playoffs?  No way!  Cleveland was just in the finals.

Ive always been under the impression that you get 2 steps on your way to the basket.  Theres guys taking 3-4 steps whenever they want.  Its easily noticeable when they are bringing the ball up court and they pass it over.  The guy coming up the floor with the ball will take 2 steps before he even thinks about dribbling.

Clint was right....

I really like Boston in the east (cept for the pistons of course) and LA in the west...
I've been watching the playoffs constantly this season for some odd reason and I've come to a conclusion...
HOME COURT IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!
SA finally stole a game from NO at home, Pistons blew one in Orlando but won 2 straight at home

Pistons dont stand a chance with a hurt billups or no billups.

The only person i enjoy watching in the playoffs is Chris Paul.  Hes been unreal.  Hes averaging 30 points and 10 assists per game.

Dood something has to be done in the league to guys who are flopping...CP is  pretty fun to watch but when he takes a light ass foul he goes flying..It's BS
Lebron does it too and so does Kobe

Agreed without Billups pistons don't have much of a chance, if they do finish off the Magic they will have to battle either Cleveland or Boston, neither team I'd like to play when my star point guard isn't in the roster..

CP is one of the smallest guys on the court.
