figured I would start a thread for this since it's getting popular.

Here is my contribution to start the thread.

Nate Quarry vs. Kalib Starnes.  Starnes is a fag who kept running away.

 uglylol uglylol uglylol

This fight sucked.  Quarry actually wanted to fight, but Starnes would never engage.  By the end of the fight, what Pete posted is what was going on because Starnes just wouldn't engage.  Hey Starnes,

Its pretty bad when the canadian is getting booed by canadians.

He actually gave quarry the bird while running away.

Starnes has done nothing in any of his fights.  Hes pathetic.

The UFC needs to do like Pride did, theyd dock their pay if they didnt engage.

I would get into this way more if there was a more unified sanctioning body... With all the different leagues or whatever its hard to keep up with and know the different rules and fighters..

Its pretty cut and dry.

UFC is the major leagues.
WEC - owned by the UFC, basically their minor league.  Also has a 145lbs class.
Elite XC, on its own, uses same rules as UFC.

Thats about it.

Quote
UFC cuts Starnes after disgraceful performance

By Kevin Iole

It was a great night for mixed martial arts on Saturday in Montreal, as an enthusiastic sellout crowd of 21,390 packed the Bell Centre to watch hometown hero Georges St. Pierre reclaim the UFC welterweight title from Matt Serra at UFC 83.

It wasn't such a good night, though, for Kalib Starnes, who spent most of the evening running from Nate Quarry in their middleweight bout. A native of Surrey, B.C., Starnes was booed heavily by the Canadian crowd that had been boisterous in its support of all the other Canadians on the card.

After losing a unanimous decision on scores of 30-26, 30-27, and an unheard-of 30-24, Starnes received even worse news: He was cut from his contract by UFC president Dana White.

"He just doesn’t belong in the UFC and after his performance the other night, he should consider a new line of work," White said Monday.

Quarry pressed the action the entire fight as Starnes simply circled and refused to engage. Late in the third round, Quarry pretended to run like he was a track star in trying to find a way to get Starnes to fight.

After the bout, members of Quarry's corner were complaining to Starnes about his lack of activity. Starnes shouted an expletive at one member of Quarry's team, called him a derogatory term for homosexuals and challenged him to a fight.

Starnes couldn't be reached for comment about his performance, but Quarry expressed disappointment with Starnes' lack of effort.

A one-time contestant on The Ultimate Fighter, Starnes was 8-2 going into the bout and had had quality victories over Chris Leben and Jason MacDonald.

"I think if you're fighting in the UFC, you've got to come to fight," Quarry told UFC.com in a post-fight interview. "I would much rather get knocked out than lose a decision running backwards. No disrespect to Kalib. I know the stress really gets to you. A lot of guys, they focus on not wanting to lose instead of wanting to win. I didn't mean to disrespect him in any way. I just got frustrated because you can't fight when somebody's moving backward that fast."

I'm a big WEC fan myself.  Favorite fighter is Urijah Faber.   Dude is badass.... he fights Jens Pulver soon and that's going to be a KILLER fight.  WEC seems to have more small weight class fights... or so it seems.

Faber dominated the fight.  before the fight no one knew if he had a striking game.  he basically boxed pulver for most the fight and pounded him. ultimately Pulver just would not give up.  he took an amazing beating.  usually Faber submits his opponent in a round but Pulver was able to escape his clutches a few times.  Faber dominated from the get go though and all 3 judges gave EVERY round to Faber after 5 rounds.  in my mind, Faber is possibly the most overall skilled fighter in all of MMA.  was quite a showcase of Urijah faber's talent and Jens Pulver's amazing chin.

Bj penn is on a different level compared to faber.  That is why faber went to train with him.

The fact that penn submitted pulver as soon as he wanted to and the fact that faber couldnt in five rounds only stengthens this.

Faber needs to step up to 155 and join the big boys at UFC.

Penn would eat him alive.  Are you aware that Penn won the gold medal at the mundials (bjj) in just 3 years?  He was entering tournaments for black belts when he was a white belt and beating them.

Heck, he lost a close decision against GSP at 170lbs.  He only lost because he gassed.  GSPs face looked like hamburger.

There is nobody as well rounded as penn.  Hes heavy handed, has great striking, and his jiu jitsu is so good its stupid.  Not just regular jj, his mma jj.  His take down defense is unmatched.  His flexibility isnt normal for humans.  The guy can put his foot behind his head without using his hands.  He just worked sherk...all in the stand up.

Theres a reason faber is in the WEC, and its not just because they are the ones with a 145lbs division.  He was never tested until the fight with pulver....and pulver is no test in my eyes.  He was washed up 5 years ago.

i believe Pulver BEAT BJ Penn too...... the thing is... I don't think Faber can go any higher than 145... he was struggling to get and stay there.  Penn could probably get down to 145 as he's got some weight to lose.  it'd be an interesting fight for sure.  i certainly give faber more of a chance than you do, but Penn is crazy good.  could pound for pound the best....
