Local hacks.  Works at the parts desk at one of the dealerships.  That in itself is worthy of world class porting services.  Hocks his wares on Craigslist.  Sned it ober butch- yeah same school of grammar and spelling.

Im finding a glaring lack of technical merit what that configuration will do.  The piston skirt is in the roove of the intake port for well over 300 degrees of revolution.  At near the point the side thrust is at its highest it would appear the piston skirt is largely unsupported in this configuration.  WHY?

is that the "batwing" approach?

i enjoyed riding goat's 200exc quite a bit.  nice to ride.  that 380 was a blast too, it rode much different than a 500 though.

i think that 380 with a counterbalancer and a different gearset would be a kickass quad engine.

as for the R vs 'shee discussion, i still see them as completely different types of bikes.  i really like the idea of a 300ish cc av fuel R with decent susp for dune running.  im not saying a balls deep drag rig at all.  just a good duner.

BC, one question I've been meaning to bring up...when I had my intakes off the Banshee a couple weeks ago (just checking up on things) I noticed the windows in the pistons were significantly smaller than even your smaller intake ports on the Banshee cylinder.  Would there be any benefit to windowing the pistons to match the intakes, or does it weaken them too much?

Weakens the piston much too much- even for my liking in drag applications.  I have found little to no benefit to enlargen the intake windows.  Even something like a Blaster piston- that has windows on the magnitude of 30-35% larger- we dont see any difference.

went to Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-OH racetrack with my dad this past weekend, always cool to see all the old 2 strokes there. this time i took notice of the newer ones in the pits that were racing. We were watching some of the racing and there was a class of mostly 2 strokes and they all had modern cladding and bodywork on them, looked them up to see what they were. They were 125s and 250s, and they were hauling around the corners pretty well. They sounded quite nice
it was mostly yamahas and hondas, heres a pic of a yamaha TZR250. Check out the frame and the pipes!

that pic is of an 08 from overseas, i wonder what kind of power they put out. a lot of the ones that were racing that i saw were early 90s

Pete had one on his R..I think it was the PT mid-range...it was probably one of the worst pipes ever made

they definitely seem to like small expansion chambers. The LT500 pipe looks like a 125 pipe. Then on the other end of the spectrum you have the Rocket pipes, i dont know how someone could ride with those on.

PTRs are a good MX pipe for Banshees.  They sign off way early.  The PTR TRX-Race was decent pipe- but again signed off early.

I saw a guy at St A's that had Rockets!!!!  Large volume pipes and elevation dont mix.

the PTRs definitely look like a low end pipe.

Those rockets are rediculous, you better have some good pants on that dont burn easily
