since work is slow as hell today, figured i'd put these up, me and Josh went out on a walleye charter on Lake Erie in the islands, went with Bruce and his son Justin, and two other guys. Was an awesome time. We went up into the canadian side, was worth it, we limited out on Walleyes. Caught a shitload of Sheepshead aka freshwater drum, we got some real monster ones, but were aiming for walleye. The Sheepshead put up quite a fight though, fun fish to catch. We got a few White Bass too, they are surprisingly strong for their size, and caught a catfish too. This was my 4th time out there on a charter, first time we finally limited out. Walleye are a challenging fish

while were out there, a storm came blowing in, looked pretty menacing, we looked all around and noticed all the other boats making a run for it. We looked at our Captain and asked if it was going to be safe for us to stay out there, and he said "yeah, why, are you scared?"  he's a hardcore grizzled guy. But he was right, it rained pretty good for awhile, then passed and was fine. It would have been over an hour ride to get back anyways, never would have made it

Heres some of our catch

it takes SKILL to catch a mussel on a hook

yeah, we had all the walleye, white bass, and catfish cleaned there, we split it up 6 ways and each got a TON of fish. One fillet is a hell of a meal for one person, they are quite large. It was a damn good meal last night, fried up some onion rings and then had the fish in a cornmeal mix fried, turned out really good

Cool pics.  I want to see the Sheepshead too!  Never seen one.  Nice catch on the mussel and Goby.  Looks like a lot of fun.

As for the feast afterwards...BARF.  I prefer my fish in an Aquarium or on the end of a fishing rod.  Not my dinner plate.

Everywhere!!!  Right now until mid August its out in the Pacific mainly.  The season opened here in Puget Sound and fishing will be picking up reaching its peak around mid August...then the rivers start around mid August and are decent until October....

im pretty sure bruce has pics of some of the larger ones, they were the biggest fish i ever caught. At some points when reeling them in they would get close to the boat and start to run again and just about bend my rod all the way down into a U
heres a pic of one, our largest ones werent much smaller then this. Ours were more of a gold color too

no, some people eat them i guess, but most dont. They are sort of a trash fish. The charter captains HATE them with a passion. I almost got hit by one thrown by our captain
looking online, there are people that like eating them and fish for just them. They do get quite huge in the rivers that lead into the great lakes i guess

this one is the NY state record
