i think im going to take one of the buggies, and head up the gravel pit road, probably stopping off at the beach along the way.  at 42 degrees, it will most likely be flourishing with beautiful bikini clad women.  uglylol

anyone want to join me?

while the ranger isnt quite what id call the perfect beach buggy, it does climb rocks very well for being fully independent.

and a few more
firewood is rare, as there are no trees, so they haul driftwood from all around the island.  i guess when this sled broke, they said to hell with it, and left it to rot.

here are the two wind generators that stg just put up. (stg is another contractor that we do alot of work with)
the salt spray causes major rust issues.  generally one of the first major problems with quads here, is the frames break in half from rust.
here you can see what used to be a cat valve cover.  all that is left is the gasket, and a small section of rust right behind the wingnuts that held it on.

Got wood?

Ive been to Anchorage and it really struck me odd how low the tree line was there.  Around here its at about 7000' foot.  There it was like 2000'...just seemed weird.  I couldnt imagine how it would be without trees at all and just tundra.  How's the wind?????

the weather here for the most part has been poopy.  untill about two weeks ago, it rained at least 6 days out of the week, and was foggy for about 5.  it doesnt rain all day, just from about 7-8ish am, till about 5pm.  working hours.  lame, way lame.  it just recently got nice out, and we have had quite a few non rainy days, but the "nice days" are pretty rare.  temp wise, it has gotten up to just below fifty once or twice, but usually 40-45 on nicer days.

How's the wind?????   pissed pissed pissed 070 070 070 070 070 070 Vomit
i hate the wind like no other.  unfortunately, i declared war on the wind a few years ago, and it hasnt run out of troops yet.
while the wind here isnt anything like it is in barrow, its still no fun.

oddly, i dont notice the low temps, i usually just wear a t-shirt and my carhardt sweatshirt jacket. if there is no wind, ill sport just the T as i sweat with the jacket on.  several times i have been sure its 70 or so, only to look and see 47 on the thermometer.

this year is completely different from last year, where it was 65 and sunny, little to no wind, for about two and a half months.
now theres only about 4-5 weeks of "summer" left.  the "rainy season" will be here all to soon.

its odd to see some of the grasses going to seed already.  although it is nice that there is grass at all, barrow has none.  haha, it was a stretch to get the barrow guys to understand what a lawn mower was for.  you guys should have seen the perplexed faces when i tried to explain a leaf blower.

pic 23 came out pretty neat, it looks like a sunset sort of.  the dark shade came from my camera's auto-dark thing it does when too much sun is present.  it was actually super bright out.  the pic isnt really anything like what i was looking at.  it is a neat shot though, i think ill try it as a wallpaper for a while.
