so Brett was reinstated today, and it's pretty obvious he wants to play for the Vikings.  I think the Vikings would be stupid to not take him, and are probably instantly one of the best teams in the admittedly weak NFC because of it.

thoughts, discussion?

I can go either way on this one.  Brett would obviously be an upgrade at the position over Tarvaris, but then it also sets him back a bit.  In the long run, it is probably a bad move.  In the short term, it could be great for the organization.  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Well, i dont think tarvaris is the long term answer either.  This league is setup to win now.  Adding Brett gives them that.  As long as he has a decent running game (which obviously MN has) he will do good.  The running game will stop him from trying to be the ole gun slinger he is which costs him alot of times.

The only teams in the league that arent smart enough to belong in the league are the cardinals and the lions.  They cant seem to figure out that even if you go 2-14 one year, you can make the playoffs the next if you make a couple of decent off season moves.

Unfortunately, Brett will be the starting QB for the packers.  They say its an open competition.  Even if Rodgers started the year, as soon as he has a bad game or two the pressure to put Brett in would be unreal.

Id love nothing more then to see Brett pound the packers into the ground.

Reminds me of Montana doing well with the chiefs.  Although, the niners released him due to injury.

Tavaris Jackson sucks.  Take off the blinders Vikings fans.  My favorite Vikings fan lines, "yeah, he has shown flashes..." blah blah... get Favre and the Vikings will be a tough team to beat.  don't get him and teams will stack the box and Tavaris will shit on himself.  stop trying to see what isn't there.  Aaron Rodgers hadn't played but a few snaps in the NFL and he came in for Favre for a bit last year and looked absolutely capable, confident, and cool.  That's how a player that is a real QB, with a future, looks.  Not like a lost puppy, ie, Tavaris Crapson.

Jer, that's actually what i do NOT like about the NFL.  just about every team can revamp their team in a year's time.  it's good for the fans, no doubt, but something doesn't feel right.

It totally tarnishes Favre's legacy to see him play for another team. Montana's situation was different, he wasn't talking retirement or anything and the niners had Steve Young as a backup QB..Comparing Tavaris to Young is COMPLETELY out of the question!!!

I think its awesome to see players remain loyal to the team that made their career. Remember, Favre was a 2nd stringer in the beginning of his career. The Pack gave him his chance and the rest is history

It would be a breathe of fresh air to see a high profile player like Favre play for one team keeping a dynasty intact.  Fact is though the almighty dollar rules and Im sure as much as I was loyal to a team- if I knew I could milk another 10 or 20 million for a couple more years playing for a rival team, I would.

Remember they did a skit about him at the ESPYs.... They showed his dramatic speech and how it wasn't about the money and blah blah blah...I don't believe him after all of this

Nobody is comparing tarvaris to Steve Young.

Fact the of the matter is, if the packers wont let him start, trade him.

Do you think emmitt smith playing for the cardinals ruined his legacy?  What about rice as a raider and seahawk?

I think if farve went to the vikings and destroyed the packers it would only add to his legacy.

He will never go to a NFC central team.  They will not let that happen, just because of that fact that he would kill them.

Emmit Smith overrated?  Yeah, he had a great offensive line, but you don't score 25 touchdowns in a season without being a stud.  Add to that:

NFL Records
Most Rushing Yards (career) -- 17162
Most Rushing Touchdowns (career) -- 153
Most Rushing Attempts (career) -- 4052
Most Rushing Touchdowns (Super Bowl) -- 5
Most Rushing Yards (postseason) -- 1586
Most Rushing Touchdowns (postseason) -- 19
Most Games with 100+ Yards Rushing (postseason) -- 7
Most Consecutive and Total 1000+ Yard Seasons -- 11

He may not be the greatest EVER, but he has to be considered ONE of the best ever.  I was never a huge Cowboy fan because I'm a Niner fan, but Emmitt Smith showed up every game, busted his butt, never game up on a run, and got yards.  He was surely overshadowed by Barry Sanders, perhaps the greatest RUNNING back of all-time but he surely was great.

BTW -- Favre is a fag... have some dignity and man-up.  Don't sit there and teeter for 4 years, retire, then, after the team clearly spent draft picks and time changing their direction, decide to come back, then whine like a little baby.
