I'm selling these extras for work.  We went all Dell and don't need them anymore.  They are all in good condition and there is nothing wrong with them at all save a few minor scratches here and there.

(3) Gateway M255

2 of them have T5800's dual core at 1.83ghz, one has a Intel Core 2 CPU T5500 (dual core) at 1.66ghz
2gb of ram
CDRW/DVD-ROM
8mb video
15.4" widescreen display
60 gb sata hard drive
ac adapter

Currently loaded with Fedora 9 (linux) but do have Windows XP Pro licenses on the bottoms of them.  I can supply an XP cd if that's the route you'd like.  I don't have any other disks for them.
$400

will post pictures later today

i was thinking one of these would be a pretty good auto-cad/solidworks/maya machine.  ill use it for other stuff as well, and maybe use this hp as mostly a music machine, and take it on the jobsite with me.  when i get home, ill just leave this one in the benzo.

how does this one compare to the gateways you have pete?  id use it for autocad/solidworks/maya, movies, web surfing, etc...

  its really up to you...

I'd look very strong at a new Dell Studio....They will be out in November but there are pics of them just google it

The display no longer has a border around it, and they roll with 8600/8800 series video cards (smoke you)

we actually have totally switched to Dell since they can supply us with everything we need (laptops, workstations, servers, switches etc)

these are on par with our D620 Latitudes.  They aren't bad machines, we just don't use them.

true dat.  If he really wanted a kickass auto cad box, I'd get something with a quad core processor, a lot of ram, good video card, and a scsi hard drive

I gotta be honest, we do lots of 2D shit and some 3D modeling and the rigs I've spec'd out as our engineering machines are so so so overkill.

Latest rig is 2 3.6ghz c2d extremes, dual 512mb vid cards, 2 10K 80gb 3gb/sec sata drives in raid-0, 4gb of ram and XP x64

Yes I was referring to the Studio XPS...That will be my next laptop!!!

Best bet is to buy a tower and build it proper... You won't find a laptop that will roll as hard as a properly built tower and nobody wants to haul around a XPS M1730 (right pete?) just hop on Dell's site and spec out an XPS tower. It is SICK looking. LEDs everywhere and all the cool guy gadgetry
