Eastern Promises

Watched this last night.  I think it's from a few years ago but came out on Blu-ray only recently.  Stars Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn from LOTR) and he is badass in it.  Pretty sure he'd mess up Liam Neeson from Taken. 

Anyways, the movie is about a teenage girl who dies during childbirth and a midwife trying to find out who she is through a diary that was found on her.  It takes place in Russia and the diary is in Russian but she can't read it.  She finds a card to a restaurant inside the diary and visits it...bla bla, the girl was a slave (this isn't spoiling anything) in a Russian Mafia family and plot ensues.

ANYWAYS, this movie made me squirm and shout out more than possibly anything I've ever seen before.  It has some brutally violent scenes in it.  There is a nasty one involving a barber chair right in the beginning, fingertips being snipped off (still gross even though it's a corpse), and if I haven't sold you on this movie yet, there is a fight in a bathhouse at the end between two guys with knives and a naked Viggo!    The movie is worth it for that scene alone.

ANYWAYS, I really didn't go in with high expectations but this movie was pretty damn good.

Yep, I have seen it.  It was good; different but good.  I would not, however, put it up there with Taken.  I really should watch it again though because the first time I watched it, it was on a plane and I couldn't hear it real well, nor was I paying close enough attention to it.

What could be better than that???????????  We watched that movie on Saturday again.... SOOOOOOOOOOO badass.  Eastern Promises was a good movie though too.  Dusty.... lol..... different.  How about expanding on that VERY descriptive word?

I would expand on my description, but I am really struggling to remember it because like I said, on the plane it was hard to hear it and I missed parts because I didn't feel comfortable watching them on a plane.     I really should watch it again.  It had that European feel though for a movie, versus being more American like I think Taken feels if that makes any sense at all?
