Heading out to a new riding area next weekend. It's a new spot that opened back in May of 2007, and I've been wanting to go for awhile. There are 50 miles of trails now with plans to expand to over 150. http://www.rockrunrecreation.com/At first I thought it was some private-owned area but then I read around and learned it was actually purchased by the state and managed by the Cambria County Conservation and Recreation Authority. Based on the pictures, the place looks very nice. I'm really looking forward to next weekend. Trails: Trail Map: http://www.rockrunrecreation.com/uploads/File/rruntrailmap.pdfWill be cool checking out a new place and getting lost and fun stuff like that.

No kidding, we do have it pretty good lately out here. There is even the Wayne forest system in Ohio that we don't even ride and it's not all that bad either...and of course HFM only 5-6 hours away.

I'm excited to ride somewhere new again. I didn't realize it was up to 50 miles of trails. Cool. Only downside will be paying to go there each time, but its reasonable for the size of it.

Ture, but we've paid $16 many times to ride at Bear Creek! At least our money is going towards something with this place.

Getting Jimbo de-scaled wasn't a worthwhile cause? Who else is going to fund his extravagant pizza delivers and sweet F-150?!

I didn't know you guys were going out there, but I have a Relay for Life, a graduation party, and my dad's birthday is the 25th anyway. Let me know how it is because I'd like to go out there.

Was a cool place, but not really what i expected. An amazing area and has some real nice amenities, but i didnt care for the trails all that much. 95% was 1st-2nd gear, pretty tight stuff and a lot of rocks. Really, it reminded me a lot of the bike trail at ANF, wasnt all that much different, just smaller. Glad we at least got to see what it was like

I really enjoyed this place. I had a ton of fun. The second trip we took on the trails was much better then the morning loop, but still I really liked it. There were some places that were very tight and a bit technical but all in all I enjoyed it alot.

Wasn't what I thought it would be but I don't regret going at all. Place was fun and it was neat to ride something different (although that was rocky as shit in the beginning!). Some amazing views out there.
and don't forget the breeze!!!

Agreed. Certainly don't regret going, but I pictured something totally different. Great amenities and spectacular views. Problem is that while the technical stuff can be fun, there was just nowhere level to open it up and cruise a little (well, there was one spot, but its essentially a gravel car road that cut through the middle of the park). You spent the entire time off camber and nailing rocks. The left side of the park we went to in the afternoon was a lot more fun. Not as rocky.
I will say one thing though...
Whoever came up with the trail numbering and setup should be shot. There are trails named like 2, 2f, 2e, 2 blue, 2 green, 2bjdf. There weren't any loops and WAY too many intersections. You really couldn't memorize the map and go easily. We pretty much rode around making random turns and seeing where they ended up. They could take some lessons from Hatfield McCoy.

Haha. I think I heard Ben asking Kendra if she could get her Dad to sell him a plot for his house on the hilltop. But Ben, if you have that breeze all the time, how will you enjoy all your summer horseflies?
