Sam and I went up to Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls, MN yesterday.  She also wanted to go to Fawn Doe Rosa, an animal petting farm place.  It actually ended up being pretty cool, I wasn't too optimistic when she told me about it.  Got to see some great sites at the State Park and some cool animals too.

Interstate pics first.  It was overcast so there is nothing super to see here, pics when it's cloudy are so blah.

1. climbers on the Wisconsin side
2. shot through a rock keyhole looking towards Wisconsin
3. mug shot
4. Exploring the rock face
5. I got a little cocky and got a bit too high.  Ok actually I was only a 4-5 feet off the ground but this picture makes it look like a lot more.
6. this place has HUGE pot holes into the ground.  There was one you could go down into.  It was in the 90's here yesterday, down in that pot hole it couldn't have been more than 60.

animal park shots.  A lot of the wild animals here are ones that are hit by cars, injured, etc.  There was a goose there with a blown out wing.  I hate canada geese so I didn't show it much love.  It's funny how those stupid birds are so nice to you when you have some corn in your hand.

1.  very young fawn.
2. This buck liked Sam.  It followed us around the park for awhile.  The deer, rabbits, chickens etc have free reign to walk wherever in the park they want.
3. a bigger fawn
4. a Shetland Pony or something.  It was real small.

1. Sam feeding a deer
2. I cracked up watching this.  The rabbit kept walking outside of the raccoon cage eating corn that bounced off the fence...and it stayed JUST out of reach of the raccoon.  The coon kept chasing it back and forth trying to paw it.  This went on for about 10 minutes before the rabbit moved on.
3.  weird looking goats that were obviously happy to see some corn.

we went for a hike, and were standing on a bluff probably 100 feet above the water.  There was a placard there saying '10,000 years ago, if you were standing here you'd be under 200 feet of water'   The St. Croix was a huge glacial run off river, possibly the largest, but they don't know for sure.  The pot holes are from swirling water that had sand and gravel in it.  The deepest excavated one is 60 feet deep, the sign said there are others in the swamp behind the sign that are now full of debris and there is no telling how deep they are.
