Went to a HP Procurve lunch seminar type of thing the other day. Towards the end, they had us fill out surveys and announced they'd be giving away a HP Mini. There was about 16 eligible people altogether, and for some reason I thought "Yeah, I'll probably win that." Sure enough, I did! On the way back to work, I opened it up, thinking it would be some bottom barrel, low-end netbook but I was wrong! It's actually pretty much one of the best netbooks you can buy at the moment. Whereas other netbooks basically have no graphical power whatsoever, the Mini 311 comes with the Nvidia ION. According to reviews, makes it 15x as powerful when it comes to graphics/gaming/etc. Supposedly people are running games like CoD4 on 'em and what not.
But moreso than that, the best part is the screen. 11.6" with a 1366x768 resolution, most larger netbooks only have 1024x600 which had always kept me from purchasing one. The keyboard is also a lot better than others I've tried.
I took it to class Thursday night and it was great because it's just like carrying around a small textbook. I also looked on amazon and you can even buy a USB-powered blu-ray drive for only $100.
It came with XP, but I went ahead and threw Windows 7 on it and have been liking it so far (although I haven't done too much with it). It runs extremely well on it. I'm loving the whole thing overall so far. I don't think I'd ever want a full-sized (14" or larger) laptop now.
