Surprisingly, i thought Maine was going to be the best place i went to, everyone kept telling me that as i was planning this trip. It wasnt. I didnt care for it all, place didnt speak to me. As soon as i crossed into Maine, i thought i was driving through WV, just broken down shacks and hillbillies. Then as i got to the coast, it was so commercialized and built up, really ruined it. Even where Acadia was, they only have about a third of the island, the rest is a million souvenir shops, restaurants, dumpy houses, hotels, motels, etc. I thought Maine was all pine trees and moose, where i went i might as well have been at any other beach town. The park itself is really nice, i missed all of the great vistas it has and everything due to weather, but its so weird how its set up, since they couldnt get all the areas for it. There would be pockets where it would go back to private areas, was strange. Personally, if i wanted all that, ill drive a lot shorter distance and go to NC or something for a beach. I would expect all the tourism stuff there. It was really strange going from the big wide open natural places i was in to here, was depressing. It would be a good place to take your family or something if your tired of the traditional east coast beach. But for what i was doing, i absolutely should have stayed in NH. NH and VT were the nicest states i ever been in, and upstate NY was just as nice. Was funny being in VT with all the hippies and Obama stickers and hybrids, my truck stuck out like a sore thumb, to then going to NH which is just as nice, but they are the complete opposite. What says it all is their license plates all say "Live Free or Die" on them, HA. Its a cool fucking state, they have a lot of pride. I thought that WWII memorial placard to their Mountain Division that fought over in Italy was awesome too, its in the pics from Mount Washington.
So im in no rush to return to Maine although im sure there is other areas that i would like a lot better, but i cant wait to go back to NY-VT-NH

weird about Vermont, there is no permit required there for CCW! The Maine pics look really cool, it's too bad about all the development. I bet northern Maine is quite different.
Old Blue officially has 2X the miles as New Blue.

I'm completely wrong about Vermont, its very similar to NH politically, went and did some research. I was also thinking, when i drove through Vermont i drove through the capital, what a tiny city. Makes Columbus look huge

Thats what i was thinking of. Also in a quick search found that NH has no sales tax, or income tax from state or local government. Really is the place to be!

I think Vermont has a lot of "real" hippies, not envirofags who claim to be hippies, but have never grown a vegatable in their life or can't go without a starbucks in the morning. Real hippies usually get labeled as hillbillies by the fake hippies, usually because real hippies support real conservative values. Real hippies grow their own food, (not just pot) have small farms or at least a few animals (for food), hunt (for food), and drive older quality cars that dont wear out (Benz or VW diesels , often on veg oil), and old pickups). Most are also strong supporters of our constitutional rights.
