I DO COCAINE

Never thought it would happen...

Long story short (EDIT, this still ended up quite long), about 2 weeks ago I heard that Jason was bringing home a streetbike for Cathy.  I, being the selfish person I am, saw immense opportunity in this news.  I've always wanted to ride/own a street bike, but had a bad history.  Wrecked Jason's magna months before I bought the Z, got my moto temps about 2 years back but scared the *$#@ out of myself trying to learn on my dads Intruder 1400 and gave up after that.  Whenever I saw people riding motorcycles in nice weather, I was immensely jealous.

Anyways, I head over Jason's and ride the monster knighthawk 250 in the yard a bit.  Got my temps a week later, went for a neighborhood ride and then out on 35mph streets with traffic over time and did okay.  The hunt for a bike started around then.  Didn't know what to look for, and then Josh mentioned SV650 and I remembered looking at that bike years ago (around 2003) when I was thinking of buying a motorcycle (pre-wrecking jason's Magna).  Took awhile sifting through craigslift drek, but ended up driving out to Plum, PA with Jason and Hayley on Sunday and picking the above bike up for $3k.

Took it out for the first time today and was nervous as hell.  I did okay on the knighthawk but usually my starts involved a foot down or two and a little stumble.  Not so with the SV, I fucking melded with this thing right away.  I couldn't stop smiling just taking it down the street and feeling the power/suspension/smoothness/handling/etc EVERYTHING.  I fucking LOVE this bike.  Jason, Josh and I went for a longer ride a few minutes later and had an absolute blast.  It is disgustingly deceiving how quickly you accelerate on this bike.  Obviously there are much faster bikes, but I finish a turn and look down and see 60/70mph and think WTF.  It was the equivalent of going 40mph in my truck.  On a real long straight stretch, got it up to 90 with no effort whatsoever and then slowed down because I scared myself, hahaha.  I have never before felt so comfortable on two wheels, I'm convinced this bike was designed specifically for me.

Anyways, to sum it all up, UNBELIEVABLE!  I will be sending my firstborn to suzuki after the Z and then this.  I may feel different a year from now, but I can't see myself outgrowing this bike.  So much more to say but I need to stop, I feel like a little kid on Christmas.  No...WAY better than that!  This RULES!!

Congrat, nothing better than a new toy that puts a smile on the face and it is real hard to beat a long bike ride in the fall this is my favorite time of year to go out and get lost on two wheels.

Congrats on the bike Danny.  SV's are very popular at the race track.  Myself, I have yet to ride one, but I have heard nothing but good things and most of what I have heard is how they are a great starter bike.  Just do us all a favor and always wear gear.  :)  Have fun and be safe.

I have a 2003 Honda CBR 600RR.  It is plenty of bike to be racing, that's for sure.  But it is a hell of a lot of fun.

I'm looking forward to riding it, nice for there to be something else besides an inline 4 cylinder! Interested to see what it sounds like too

Thank ye

Blue was actually the last color I wanted, but I was limited in options.  Its not that I dislike the color, it is just everywhere but it is damn nice, especially in the sun.  May also work to my advantage in being more visible than black, etc.

Nice!!!  I've always like the SV650's. I've looked at them a couple times in the past.
