My laptop started acting weird about needing to be plugged in order to work.  Something changed in the matter of a day because it worked before.  I tried fiddling with power settings and BIOS settings/info too but no luck. I was lamenting to a friend and he mentioned to try this.  Lappy off, remove AC adapter, remove battery, plug in AC adapter, boot up, shut down, remove AC adapter, reinstall batter, plug in AC adapter, boot up.  It worked.  Just something to throw in the knowledge bank for later.
