FINALLY got a chance to go snowshoeing. The conditions were perfect, low to mid 20's, overcast, very little breeze, lightly snowing. I think we went about 2.5 miles. Unfortunately I was feeling a little under the weather, but I manned up and went anyways. We hiked back to the high falls at Tettegouche (a place we've hiked in the summer), and wow is it different as hell in the winter. It's very quiet because the entire waterfall is frozen over!
1. brink of the falls. 2. frozen waterfall 3. shot of the river 4. the cable pedestrian bridge across the river about 100 yards upstream from the falls 5. the snow was really good tasting 6. a look down the river gorge from the top of the falls

Looks like a fun trip! Sam's snowshoes are way sweeter than yours! I always liked the traditional ones, but I never shoed up jagged trails or anything with them. Were there any places on this trail where one style shined over the other? It's hard to tell on a traveled trail though.

it was a hilly trail, so my new ones with the traction devices on the bindings did much better. I had to push her up a few of the hills because she kept sliding backwards

Haha. I used to have some toe gripper deals that attached to my boots before strapping into the shoes. I also remember a pair of my dads that he had wrapped nylon rope around the frame, spiraled all the way around it. Pretty much through every webbing hole, so the spacing was about an inch.

the straps wouldn't go tight enough for her feet either, but they worked well enough for her to decide she liked it and wanted her own set of shoes. Here is one of the downhill crashes
