I'm not a photographer, in fact I am way to lazy to take pictures most of the time, however I need to start out of necessity. I'll be taking the trailer on trips and things like that I need to be able to take some nice photos to use for the website and marketing, etc. I don't really want a DSLR or even to have to figure it all out, so I was thinking a p&s hybrid that had an optical zoom.
Pete, any thoughts on a model?

if you don't want an SLR, look at the Canon G12 or Canon S95 IS. The G12 is more professional and can mount an external flash on top (bounce off ceiling to fill frame with nice light)
Neither do 1080 video, that is just starting to come into DSLR's now let alone the compacts. They do record in 720 though.

I wanted to add, if you are going to buy, now might be the time. The camera industry is going to be stagnant for awhile until things in Japan get back on their feet. The price of lenses and bodies has already jumped.

Yeah, I kinda put this on the back burner. As much as I would think I'd use a new shiny camera more than my existing one, the reality is I SUCK at taking pictures.
