Max's first fish
this trip was freaking awesome. The weather was perfect, we decided to camp at a backpack/boat in only site that we found last year. It was out on a point and covered in huge 100 foot tall red pines with a 270 degree view of the lake. The first night out there, we had a beautiful sunset and the loons did their thing all night. Was perfect for sleeping. The fishing was a little slower than last year, but we still managed to catch 7 or 8 keeper northerns and 8 or 10 bluegills to fillet up and eat. Awesome trip, I wanna go back!

I slept like a baby both nights, Sam woke me up both days wanting to go fishing  by the way, Max looks like a Klingon because he rode his toy CAT dump truck down a flight of concrete steps Saturday morning. Ouch! |

I rented a Nikon 80-400 VR for this trip because I wanted some nice loon photos, and the one above seems to be about as good as I got. Not real impressed with the lens, tracks focus very slowly and doesn't seem fast enough for the kind of pictures I wanted (loons from a moving boat)
On another note, Sam caught the biggest fish of the weekend, a 30 inch, 6 pound northern. Not 'huge' but it was a nice fight for her, it was fun to watch.
