WASHINGTON (AP) - Major league players and owners agreed to toughen penalties for steroid use to a 50-game suspension for a first failed test, 100 games for a second and a lifetime ban for a third.

I agree with Pete on this. This should stop this from happening. I feel bad for the guys that are getting caught for stuff that aren't actually juicing. It makes you wonder what all is being banned. Oh well. I am not a professional athlete, for obvious reasons, so I won't have to worry about it.

Guys getting caught that aren't actually doing this? WTF are you talking about? Like who again? I agree with Pete on this. This should stop this from happening. You know what I meant. Guys that maybe are taking something different than an anabolic or other steriod, but it comes up as a banned substance. I find it hard to believe that Juan Rincon would fight his test the way he has if he actually knowingly juiced.

BAH, could be. Fact is, those tests are pretty conclusive. Granted I don't know the process, but they typically also take into account testosterone levels WITH the specific substance. It's pretty likely these guys were positive.
Now, what certainly is more plausible is that they took substances that are/were legal in the US, but show up as anabolic. There are a couple of products that come to mind, Superdrol and Ergomax are two of them. They are legal to take but they will show up very very similar to most other substances. Yes, they are technically steroids, but they don't have some of the same properties. If the MLB simply uses ALL AAS and bans them, well then, these guys have a case. Of course, these guys would be idiots not to know they were taking anabolic substances.
You're right, there definately is a grey area. Depending on the laws and rules in place. You figure if you can go into your health store and purchase the substance it would be legal for your professional agency, etc right? guess again :(

That's pretty stout. I wonder if he's natural or not.

Why? You can get like that without roids. Lots of hard work though. Being big and veiny only mean low bodyfat and lots of strength training. I'm guessing he's probably NOT natural, but plenty of guys look like that and are.
I find it comical that everytime someone sees a bodybuilder they think they're on roids. There are plenty of natural bodybuilders that won't ever touch the stuff.

On second view he does look a little beyond where his natural genetics would take him. Typically natural guys, especially with his genetic makeup aren't going to get quite as big.
He's certainly done a great job of cutting fat and dehydrating himself for the show.

plus he's asian and I bet a 'natural' asian guy would be about half that big. Of the self proclaimed 'natural' body builders I've seen they are alot more proportional than that. Yea they're still too big and too veiny but not to that extent.

veiny isn't a deal at all... that's just low BF and no water retention. however, yeah, he's probably too big for asian genetics, definately. now if he was black, then it'd be a different story. african-americans have sensational genetics for bodybuilding.
