Does anyone else have verizon for their cell service? If you do, do you get charged for every text message you send or receive? On my old phone i would send or receive probaly at least 10 txts a day { it gets addicting} and i never got any charges. In december, i got a new phone and the same service plan, only I bought 100 messages more a month. I get my first bill and there's $30 in overages from texts. It says i sent and received 280 something messages. i might be able to believe that but they don't have anything in their site to track texts. I can see every phone call, but no txts. Then it also said i sent and received 30 pix messages which i know i only sent 5 or 6. I called them and the lady didn't know anything. She did remove the chargesfor the pixs, though.
I guess this sounds like something that belongs more in the rants but i didn't really intend it to.

I have Verizon, but I've only sent 1 text message in the last 6 months, and my phone doesn't even have a color screen, let alone a camera.
So you bought 100 messages? that would be 180 short, so thats 18 dollars just for sent. Their site says 10 cents for each received, 10 cents for each sent.

None of the numbers add up. My numbers were generalized so don't go by them for doing math. The lady I was talking to at verizon had such a thick southern accent and she sounded like she was 75 years old. It was like trying to explain my text messaging to my grandma. what i really want to know is why i never got any charges until i got my new phone. Was it a glitch or did the idiot at the verizon store change something about my plan. That's the question that can't be answered. The guy at the store also tacked on a useless extra plan for another $20 a month. All those overages were with the extra plan! a lot of good that is. They want you to have a $100 bill a month.

Pete, your phone sounds like my old one. It had 2 colors, blue and black. Wasn't even a flip, either. I decided to enter the 21st century and get one of the fancy ones. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, video, MP3 player, and a mini SD port. The pictures are pretty good as long as it isn't moving. The MP3 player is pretty cool too. I don't bother with all the mobile web, V-cast crap. It sucks and adds up to big money. I'm glad I finally upgraded.

usually when you get a new phone etc you lose your old plan and have to go to a new. You probably had unlimited text messages with your old plan but not with your new. They always mess you around with that shit, cell companies piss me off.
I kind of want a Motorola Razr, but everytime I think about what it would cost, I figure I have better use for the money, as my phone has speakerphone and still makes phone calls. LOL

I just said F-it and bought the 1000 messages a month. If i go over that than I probaly do have a problem. It sucked trying not use the texts. It's so much easier to use than have to make a phonecall to hear a 3 word answer and end up in a 30 minute conversation.

What probably happened is when you got a new phone, your contract renewed for another 2 years. Even though you kept the same plan, it updated with the current plans that they have running.
Cingular did this to me, I had 100 text messages included in my plan. When I upgraded my phone, they gave me the same plan, but I had to go according to the new features of that plan. In which Text messaging was NOT included. I had to pay extra for it. I asked them why I wasn't grandfather claused in, they said because I upgraded my phone, it renewed my contract. When it renewed my contract it gave me the rate plans that they were offering at the time. YUP, it's BS!!!
