I was reading this months issue of Quad { good mag-great pictures} and they were talking about booming dunes in the one article. I guess they say in dunes where the sand is very dry and tightly packed if you climb to the top of a dune on foot and slide down the grains of sand rubbing against each other make a loud noise like a low flying airplane. Anyone ever heard of this, done it? Does it do it at St.Anthony?

sounds spooky.  I've heard frozen lakes 'rumble' as the ice moves and creaks against itself, so I guess its possible.

Only booming I've heard at Silver Lake is peoples junk blowing up.
